Background

KASH is a Non-Govermental Organisation with its headquarter in Kisumu. The organization was previously operating as a CBO under the title Kisumu AIDS Self Help Group (KASH). It is a membership organization made up of individual volunteers. The members include women and men with interest in issues pertaining to the vulnerable and hard to reach groups in Western Kenya.

Its main objective is to address empowerment issues amongst marginalized groups particularly in regards to HIV/AIDS & human rights. To this end, specific focus has been on spear heading campaigns aimed at realizing behavior change amongst vulnerable people.

KASH serves entire Western Kenya region, having started its work at Kisumu and its environs and now spreading out.

KASH works in conjunction with a number of other organizations. We have established strong relationships with networking organisation such as:

  • Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA)
  • Pambazuko /Family Health Options of Kenya (FHOK)
  • Civil Society Organisation(CSO) Network
  • National Organisation of Peer Educators (NOPE)
  • Population Services International (PSI)
  • Africa Medical REsearch Foundation (AMREF) Maanisha
  • Kenya Police Administration
  • All night clubs
